HIPAA & THERAPY BOUNDARY DISCLAIMER
Â
This HIPAA & Therapy Boundary Disclaimer (“Disclaimer”) explains the limits of the services offered by Joie, LLC (“Provider”) and clarifies the distinction between educational/coaching support and licensed therapeutic or medical care.
- Non-Clinical Nature of Services
Provider offers educational, personal development, coaching, mentorship, and/or spiritual growth services. These services are not therapy, are not clinical, and are not a substitute for licensed mental health or medical care.
Provider does not diagnose, treat, or manage mental health conditions and does not provide psychotherapy, counseling, or medical services.
Nothing shared in sessions, courses, messaging platforms, or community spaces should be interpreted as psychological, medical, or diagnostic advice.
- No Therapist–Client Relationship
Participation in programs, coaching sessions, courses, messaging exchanges, emails, group calls, or community interactions does not create a therapist–client or patient–provider relationship.
A therapeutic relationship only exists if Client has formally entered into a separate written psychotherapy agreement with Provider and completed all required clinical intake documents.
- HIPAA Does Not Apply
Because Provider’s offerings are non-clinical, communications with Provider are not protected by HIPAA or other medical privacy laws.
This means that:
- Emails, messages, community posts, and course submissions are not confidential medical information
- Provider cannot prevent other platform users from viewing what is shared in group or community environments
- Sensitive or personal mental health disclosures should not be shared in these spaces
Please do not submit confidential health information through non-secure channels.
- Confidentiality Limits
While Provider treats personal information with respect, confidentiality may be broken if:
- Required by law,
- Safety concerns arise, or
- Necessary to maintain secure operation of online platforms.
Because group settings are not private spaces, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed.
- Emergency & Crisis Support
Provider does not offer crisis support or emergency services and cannot monitor messages or course platforms for crisis disclosures.
If you are experiencing:
- Thoughts of harming yourself or others
- Severe panic, dissociation, or emotional overwhelm
- Domestic violence or unsafe conditions
- Any urgent mental or physical health concerns
Contact emergency services or a licensed professional immediately.
